A few stores were obliterated and numerous different properties were harmed in a blast in Rae Street, Belconnen, this evening (December 27).

Police are examining the reason for the blast, which happened at around 7.30pm.
Firemen stifled bursts in various premises and one man was taken to a clinic for treatment.
Police say that while the full degree of the harm is not really settled, different premises were destroyed by the fire, and different stores close by experienced significant fire and smoke harm.
A few streets in the space were shut and expected to stay shut on Tuesday morning.
Any individual who saw the blast is approached to call 131444.

A FIRE in a shop in Rae Street, Belconnen, has been contained this evening (December 27).
Encompassing structures were emptied as a safety measure while groups attempted to slow the spread of fire.
Firemen are as yet attempting to quench two little spaces of fire. Crisis Services says that because of the unsteadiness of the structure, teams won't enter the construction.
The reason for the fire isn't yet known. The scene will in no time be given to ACT policing who will decide the reason for the fire.
Streets stay shut down nearby.
